Bird flu virus discovered in Hado-ri
Researchers now trying to determine if it’s highly pathogenic strain

Authorities have enacted containment measures after they discovered avian influenza in the Hado-ri, Gujwa-eup migratory bird habitat.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said researchers had confirmed the existence of the H5N2 variant of the bird flu virus in droppings collected from the area. They are now trying to determine if it is the highly pathogenic strain.

Over the next three weeks, all transport of poultry and other farmed birds is banned within ten kilometers of the site where the virus was discovered. Authorities will also be disinfecting all relevant areas and facilities in the same zone.

하도리서 AI 바이러스 검출…고병원성 확인중

제주시 구좌읍 하도리 철새도래지에서 조류인플루엔자, 즉 AI 바이러스가 검출되면서 방역 당국이 긴급행동지침에 따른 방역조치에 들어갔습니다.

농림축산식품부는 어제(12일) 하도리 철새도래지에서 채취한 야생조류의 분변에서 H5N2형 AI 바이러스를 확인하고 고병원성 여부를 조사하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

특히, 고병원성 AI에 대비해 반경 10km 지역을 야생조수류 예찰지역으로 설정해
앞으로 3주동안 해당 지역의 가금류와 사육조류에 대한 이동 통제와 소독을 실시하기로 했습니다.
