Seogwipo population grows by 7,300
City has roughly 185,000 inhabitants

Thousands more people are living in Seogwipo compared to last year.

Officials peg the city’s population at about 185,000 as of last month. That means 7,300 more people are living there compared to October 2016.

The biggest increase was in Daecheon-dong, where the population grew by 38-hundred. 12-hundred more people are living in Daejeong-eup, and the Andeok-myeon population grew by 800.

It wasn’t even growth across the board. Downtown areas actually lost inhabitants ? Jungang-dong and Donghong-dong lost 200 apiece, while the population of Cheonji-dong dropped by 150.

서귀포 인구 올 들어 7천 300명 증가

서귀포시 인구가 올 들어서도 꾸준한 증가세를 보이고 있습니다.

서귀포시에 따르면 지난달까지 집계된 인구수는 18만 5천여 명으로 지난해 말보다 7천 309명 증가했습니다.

지역별로 보면 대천동이 3천 800여 명으로 가장 많이 늘었고 대정읍 1천 200여 명, 안덕면 800명 순으로 증가했습니다.

반면 중앙동과 동홍동 200여 명, 천지동 150여 명 등 원도심 중심으로 감소세를 보였습니다.
