Unemployment rate spikes in October
About 7,000 Jeju people classified as jobless last month

Jeju’s unemployment rate has grown considerably.

According to the Jeju branch of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, about 7,000 people were classified as unemployed in Jeju last month. That’s 25 percent more than in October 2016.

The unemployment rate rose 0.3 percentage points over the period to 1.8 percent.

The number of unemployed men rose 40.5 percent, while the statistic for women remained relatively stable.

The island’s employment rate fell 0.2 percentage points over the year to 69.7 percent.

지난달 제주 실업률 크게 늘어

제주도내 실업률이 높아졌습니다.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면 지난달 도내 실업자는 7천여 명으로 지난해 같은 기간보다 25% 증가했습니다.

이에 따라실업률은 1.8%로 작년보다 0.3%p 상승했습니다.

성별로 보면 남성 실업자는 지난해보다 40.5% 증가했고 여성은 비슷한 수준을 보였습니다.

도내 고용률은 69.7%로 지난해보다 0.2%p 하락했습니다.
