More horse race simulcasts mean more tax proceeds
Jeju City on track to collect \70b in 2017

More horse races in Jeju and elsewhere are being simulcast live, and that is boosting the leisure tax the local government is collecting on bets.

Jeju City has collected 56.3 billion won this year, 1.2 billion more than last year.

The increase in simulcasts this year is expected to push the total in leisure tax collections to 70 billion won by the end of the year.

Let’s Run Park Jeju broadcast 448 of the races last year, and by the end of December it will have broadcast 487 this year.

제주경마 화상경주 늘며 레저세도 증가

제주와 다른지역 경마경기를 화상중계하는 경주 횟수가 늘며 이로 인한 레저세도 증가하고 있습니다.

제주시는 경마의 승마투표권에 부과되는 레저세를 올 들어 563억 원 징수해 지난해 같은 기간보다 12억 원 증가했다고 밝혔습니다.

레저세가 증가한 것은 교차경주 횟수가 늘어난 데 따른 것으로 연말까지 700억 원이 징수될 것으로 예상하고 있습니다.

한편 렛츠런파크제주에서 실시돼 전국에 중계되는 화상경주는 지난해 448경주에서 올해 39경주 늘었습니다.
