JTO duty-free shop for foreign travelers passes \10b in sales

The Jeju Tourism Organization’s duty-free shop for non-Koreans has made 10 billion won in sales since opening in February 2016.

The JTO says receipts topped that milestone as of November 11th.

Organization representatives project the sales total to hit 30 billion won next year. That rosy outlook is based on the improving relationship between China and Korea and the store’s relocation to Jeju Shinhwa World.

The shop did only 4.4 billion won in sales last year. That put it 2.9 billion won in the red.

JTO 외국인면세점 매출 100억 돌파

지난해 2월 문을 연 제주관광공사 외국인면세점이 매출 100억원을 돌파했습니다.

제주관광공사는 중문관광단지 롯데호텔 제주에서 운영하고 있는 외국인면세점 올해 매출액이 지난 11일 기준으로 100억원을 넘어섰다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 한중 관계 회복과 함께 제주신화월드 이전이 마무리되는 내년에는 매출 300억원 달성이 무난할 것으로 전망하고 있습니다.

지난해 제주관광공사 외국인면세점 매출은 44억원에 그치며 29억원의 적자를 기록했습니다.
