Household debt falls

Consumer confidence in Jeju is at its highest point in years.

The Jeju branch of the Bank of Korea says the consumer sentiment index rose 2.5 points between last month and this month to 111. That’s the highest it’s been since December 2010.

Analysts say that means consumers expect higher household income, more job opportunities, and better interest rates. The consumer outlook for the next six months also rose five points.

In another positive sign, household debt fell by four points compared to six months ago.

제주지역 소비자심리가 크게 상승했습니다.

한국은행 제주본부에 따르면 이달 제주지역 소비자심리지수는 지난달보다 2.5p 오른 111로 2010년 12월 이후 최고 수준을 기록했습니다.

앞으로 가계수입과 취업기회, 금리 수준 등이 나아질 것이라고 예상했고, 6개월 뒤 경기상황을 예측하는 향후경기전망 지수도 5p 상승했습니다.

한편 6개월 전과 비교한 현재가계부채는 지난달보다 4p 하락했습니다.
