Employment-focused field placement programs to be abolished
Some academic on-the-job training will still be allowed for HS students

Beginning next year, authorities are shutting the field placement programs that have been used to place some high school students in jobs prior to graduation.

The national government recently convened a ministerial meeting and decided to end the programs in order to secure students’ right to study and safety.

There will be some exceptions. Programs that follow a specific course of study, last a maximum of three months, and provide practical guidance and a safe environment will be allowed.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy will create a list of vetted companies for the program. The government will also provide participating firms with administrative and financial support.

Inspectors will be sent out to the sites to ensure the businesses are honoring the students’ human rights and creating a safe workplace. If they are not, the students will be sent back to school.

내년부터 조기 취업 형태의 현장실습이 전면 폐지됩니다.

정부는 오늘 사회관계 장관 회의를 열고 내년부터 학생들의 안전 확보와 학습권 보장을 위해 조기 취업 형태의 현장실습을 전면 폐지하기로 했습니다.

다만 최대 3개월 내로 정해진 교육 프로그램에 따라 실습지도와 안전관리 등을 하는
학습 중심의 현장실습만 허용하기로 했습니다.

이를 위해 고용부, 산업부 등과 협력해 우수 현장실습 기업 후보군을 학교에 제공하고 기업에는 행.재정적으로 지원하기로 했습니다.

또 전체 현장실습 현장을 점검해 학생의 인권 보호와 안전현황을 중점 확인하고
위반사항이 있을 경우 복교 조치를 내리기로 했습니다.
