Tropical orchids grown in Jeju being shipped to Japan
200,000 cymbidiums to be exported by end of May

A local organization is shipping tropical orchids grown in Jeju to Japan.

The first shipment of the year was Tuesday. Jeju Agricultural Research and Extension Services will export 200,000 cymbidiums worth one million US dollars to Japan by the end of May.

That’s 30 percent more flowers than were shipped there last year.

The organization also plans to ship the flowers to Australia and other countries.

제주에서 생산된 양란 심비디움이 일본 수출길에 오릅니다.

제주특별자치도농업기술원은 내일(5일) 첫 선적을 시작으로 내년 5월까지
올해산 심비디움 20만대, 100만달러어치를 일본에 수출할 계획입니다.

이같은 수출물량은 지난해보다 30% 증가한 것입니다.

농업기술원은 현재 일본에 한정돼 있는 심비디움 수출을 호주 등 여러나라로 확대한다는 계획입니다.
