54,000 working mothers in Jeju
Up 7.7% over year ending in April

The growth rate in the number of working mothers in Jeju is the highest in the nation.

Statistics Korea says that as of last April, 54,000 of the 71,000 married mothers with children under the age of 18 in Jeju were working. That’s 7.7 percent more than the year before.

The national average was minus 0.6 percent.

The overall employment rate for women on the island grew 5.4 percent over the preceding year to 77 percent. That was also the highest growth in the country.

제주 워킹맘 5만 4천명…증가율 '전국 최고'

자녀 양육과 일을 병행하는 이른바 '워킹맘' 증가율이 제주가 전국에서 가장 높았습니다.

통계청이 발표한 지역별 고용조사와 자녀별 여성 고용지표에 따르면, 지난 4월 기준
18살 미만 자녀와 함께 사는 기혼여성 7만 1천명 가운데 취업한 여성은 5만 4천명으로 지난해보다 7.7% 증가했습니다.

이 같은 증가율은 전국 시.도 가운데 가장 높았으며 전국적으로 0.6% 감소한 것과도 대조를 보였습니다.

특히 여성 고용률도 제주가 77%로 지난해보다 5.4% 증가하며 전국 1위를 기록했습니다.
