‘Jeju Haenyeo’ photo exhibition in New York City
50 photographs by David Alan Harvey on display at The Korea Society

A photo exhibition of the island’s women divers is underway through December 22nd in New York City.

The provincial government and The Korea Society are hosting the ‘Jeju Haenyeo’ exhibition. Fifty photographs of the women by David Alan Harvey are on display at The Korea Society.

The exhibition offers a unique look at Jeju haenyeo ? their unyielding spirit and their vital role in the local economy. Organizers say the exhibition will help inform more people about Jeju’s distinctive culture.

제주해녀 뉴욕 사진전시회

미국 뉴욕에서 제주해녀를 주제로 한 사진전이 오늘(8일)부터 오는 22일까지 열립니다.

제주도와 The Korea Society가 공동 주최하는 이번 사진전에는 해녀를 주제로 한 데이비드 앨런 하비의 작품 50여점이 전시됩니다.

이번 전시회는 외국작가의 시선으로 바라 본 제주 해녀의 개척정신과 공동체 의식, 강인함 등 제주의 독특한 문화를 세계적으로 알리기 위해 마련됐습니다.
