Employment rate inches up in November
Gains in public service, small businesses
It wasn’t much, but the employment rate did rise in November.
According to the Jeju branch of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, Jeju’s employment rate last month was 71.3 percent. That’s 0.7 percentage points higher than the year before.
Employment in small private businesses and public service rose 17 percent and in the construction industry it was up nine percent. It dropped by ten percent, though, in the fishing sector.
The number of employees with 36 or more hours of work a week rose 5.7 percent.
Finally, analysts say the overall work environment was relatively poor.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면 지난달(11월) 제주지역 고용률은 71.3%로
지난해 같은 기간에 비해 0.7%p 올랐습니다.
산업별로는 개인 사업과 공공서비스업, 건설업 분야가 각각 17%, 9% 증가했고
농림어업 분야는 10% 감소했습니다.
다만, 주당 근무시간이 36시간 이상인 취업자가 5.7% 증가하며 근무환경은 열악한 것으로 조사됐습니다.
