Ildo-dong, Wolpyeong-dong selected for urban renewal project
National initiative begins next year

The national government has selected Ildo-dong in Jeju City and Wolpyeong-dong in Seogwipo for an urban renewal project that begins next year.

The Jeju City area will benefit through a program called “Neighborhood Regeneration.” The Seogwipo project aims to improve living conditions through housing support.

The plans differ from other redevelopment projects in which buildings are just torn down and replaced. Authorities aim to improve the neighborhoods while preserving their unique character.

일도동·월평동, 도시재생 시범지 선정

정부 도시재생 뉴딜 사업에 제주에서는 제주시 일도동과 서귀포시 월평동 등 2곳이 시범지역으로 선정됐습니다.

이에 따라 내년부터 신산마루와 서귀포시 월평동에는 각각 '우리동네 살리기'와 '주거지원을 통한 삶의질 개선'으로 주제를 정해 사업이 진행됩니다.

도시재생 뉴딜 사업은 재개발과 같은 전면 철거로 대표되는 기존 정비사업과는 달리
도시의 기존 틀을 유지하면서 주거환경을 개선하고 도시활력을 높이는게 목적입니다.
