Housing sales in a slump
More people opting to rent, rather than buy

With just about one month to go until the traditional “Singugan” moving season, Jeju housing sales are in a slump.

The land ministry says there were about 850 housing transactions last month. That’s down 19.4 percent from November 2016.

On the other hand, about 1,000 monthly or yearly rental contracts were signed last month. That’s about twice the total of the year before.

Experts say potential home buyers are adopting a wait-and-see attitude as housing prices have climbed significantly in recent years.

주택 매매 감소, 전월세 거래는 급증

제주 전통 이사철인 신구간을 한달여 앞두고 도내 주택매매가 줄어들고 있습니다.

국토교통부에 따르면 지난 한달동안 도내 주택 매매거래 실적은 850여 건으로 지난해 같은 기간 1천 50여 건에 비해 19.4% 줄었습니다.

반면 전월세 거래량은 1천여 건으로 지난해 같은 달 510여 건에 비해 두배 가까이 급증했습니다.

이같은 현상은 최근 급등한 집값 부담 등에 따라 관망세가 이어지고 있는 것으로 풀이됩니다.
