Major road work begins in January in Jeju City

Construction will begin in earnest next year on a road connecting (번영로) Beonyeong-ro with the Samhwa District.

Jeju City says 80 percent of compensation negotiations with landowners are complete.

Authorities therefore plan to wrap up design work on the new thoroughfare this week, then begin construction in January.

The project will cost an estimated 48.2 billion won, and it is scheduled for completion in 2020. Analysts say it will go a long way toward easing traffic congestion in eastern Jeju City, where the population has grown significantly in recent years.

번영로~삼화지구 도로개설 내년 본격

제주시 번영로에서 삼화지구까지 연결하는 제2도시우회도로 개설사업이 내년 본격 추진됩니다.

제주시는 제2도시우회도로 개설사업에 따른 보상협의가 현재 80% 이상 마무리됐다고 밝혔습니다.

이에따라 이달 내로 실시설계를 마무리하고 내년 1월 공사를 발주할 예정입니다.

이 사업에는 482억원을 투입되며 2020년 개통되면 급증한 인구 유입으로 인한 동부권 교통난 해소에 도움을 줄 전망입니다.
