Jeju City issues construction permits for 25% less land
Officials employing stricter criteria

Much less land in Jeju City is being developed.

The city says it issued about 43-hundred construction permits this year through the end of November.

Those permits were for nearly 1.9 million square meters of land. That’s a 25 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

Analysts say stricter criteria for the permits may be part of the reason for the decline. Officials are trying to put a stop to violations like illegal land subdivisions.

Ten would-be developers brought lawsuits against Jeju City this year for refusing to issue a construction permit. The city won all cases.

제주시지역 건축허가 면적이 크게 줄었습니다.

제주시에 따르면 올들어 지난달까지 건축허가 면적은 4천300여 건에 189만㎡입니다.

이는 지난해 같은 기간보다 25% 감소한 것으로 쪼개기 등 난개발 방지를 위해
건축허가 신청 시 기준을 강화데 따른 것으로 보고 있습니다.

제주시는 올해 건축허가 불가 처분한 10건의 행정소송에서 모두 승소한 바 있습니다.
