New round of applications for April Third Incident victims
Victims and their families may apply for official recognition next year

Next year the provincial government will accept applications from people who say they or their family members were victims of the April Third Incident and who want to be officially recognized as such.

This is part of the Moon Jae-in administration’s national agenda. It is the first time such applications have been accepted since 2013.

Local applicants may submit their documents to the April Third Incident support office, city administrations, or local community centers.

Those living elsewhere in the country can apply through resident councils set up for Jeju Islanders currently living off-island. Applicants living overseas can also apply through those councils, or through the Korean embassy in the country of their residence.

Members of a special provincial working committee and the April Third Incident Committee will review the applications and begin releasing the results of their assessments in June.

5년만에 4·3 희생자 · 유족 추가 접수

제주특별자치도가 내년 한해 동안 4.3 희생자와 유족에 대한 추가 신청을 받습니다.

문재인 정부의 국정과제이기도 한 추가 신고는 지난 2013년 이후 5년 만에 재개되는 것입니다.

신청은 제주도 4.3 지원과와 행정시, 그리고 읍면동사무소 민원실을 통해 이뤄집니다.

재외도민 가운데 국내 거주자는 해당 시도 재외도민회에서 국외 거주자의 경우
재외공간과 재외제주도민회를 통해 신청하면 됩니다.

유족과 희생자 신청 접수 이후에는 실무위원회와 4.3 위원회 심사를 거쳐 내년 6월부터 단계적으로 결과가 통보됩니다.
