Work on Hwabuk commercial to begin next year
Construction slated for completion in 2021

It’s taken three decades, but work on a commercial district in Hwabuk will finally begin next year.

The development was first included in city planning in 1986.

Jeju City will spend 8.5 billion won on the project next year.

A committee will review the plans in January, with final approval for the project expected in February. Work is slated to begin in June.

The plan entails housing, a hotel, and commercial buildings on a 210,000-square-meter plot of land in Hwabuk 1-dong. Construction is scheduled for completion by December 2021.

화북상업지역 개발사업 내년 본격 착수

지난 1986년 도시계획에 포함됐지만 30년 넘게 지지부진하던 화북상업지역 도시개발사업이 내년부터 본격 추진됩니다.

제주시는 85억 원을 투입해 화북상업지역 도시개발사업에 착수하기로 했습니다.

이에따라 내년 1월 교통영향평가 심의위원회와 2월 사업 승인을 거쳐 6월쯤 공사에 들어갈 계획입니다.

화북상업지역은 화북1동 21만여 제곱미터 부지에 대규모 상업용지와 공동주택, 호텔 등이 들어서며 2021년 12월 완공할 예정입니다.
