Large retailers had good month in November
Sales index up 10%

Business was booming at the island’s large retailers in November.

The Honam Regional Statistics Office says the sales index at E-mart, Lotte Mart, and the like was 232.2 - a full ten percent higher than where it was in November 2016.

Electronics sales grew the most at 25 percent. Leisure items also sold well ? receipts for them were up 17 percent.

On the other end of the spectrum were clothing, food, and beverages. Sales of those items fell seven percent.

이마트와 롯데마트 등 제주도내 대형마트가 지난달 호황을 누린 것으로 조사됐습니다.

호남지방통계청이 발표한 '산업활동 동향'에 따르면 지난달 제주지역 대형소매점 판매액 지수는 232.2로 지난해 같은기간보다 10% 증가했습니다.

품목별로 보면 가전제품 판매가 25%까지 상승했고, 오락.취미.경기용품은 17% 늘었습니다.

반면 의류비와 음식료품은 각 7% 정도 하락했습니다.
