‘Feasibility report for 2nd airport expected in May’
Governor fields questions about project Wednesday

The governor says he expects the results of a new feasibility study for the island’s second airport in May.

Governor Won Hee-ryong made the remarks during a Wednesday press conference prior to his New Year’s visit to Seogwipo.

He said that once the study results are available, officials will be able to ease local conflicts by resolving compensation issues and fleshing out a development plan for the area around the new facility.

When asked what he would do if the study finds a low level of feasibility for the new airport, the governor avoided a direct answer by saying he would not respond to hypotheticals.
