2. First, second grade classrooms to get air purifiers
Provincial education office spending \960m on initiative

All of the island’s first and second grade classrooms will be outfitted with air purifiers prior to the start of the new school year in March.

The provincial education office set aside 960 million won to purchase about 550 of the devices.

It has also hired an outside institute to monitor air quality in the rooms from March through August to determine the efficacy of the purifiers.

The education office will use the results of that study to decide whether to install purifiers in other classrooms.

초등 1·2학년 교실에 공기청정기 설치

새학기부터 제주도내 모든 초등학교 1, 2학년 교실에 공기청정기가 설치돼 운영됩니다.

제주도교육청은 지난해 추경과 국비 등 9억 6천여만원의 예산을 확보하고
초등학교 1, 2학년 교실에 공기청정기 550여 대를 설치했다고 밝혔습니다.

이와함께 오는 3월부터 8월까지 6개월동안 전문기관에 맡겨 공기청정기 운영에 따른 효용성을 검증하기로 했습니다.

교육청은 검증 결과를 종합적으로 검토해 확대 보급 여부를 결정할 방침입니다.
