5. Woodang Library publishes ‘Wailing History of Jeju Samda’
Critics credit book for its ‘accessibility’

Jeju Woodang Library has published a history of the island called “The Wailing History of Jeju Samda.”

Author (한동구) Han Dong-gu is a first-generation Korean-Japanese from Jeju. His book describes the formation of the island and how its people created Jeju’s unique history and culture.

Critics have given the book a “thumbs up,” saying it eschews detailed historical minutia and difficult terms in favor of a simple style that anyone can enjoy.

우당도서관 '제주도 삼다의 통곡사' 발간

제주우당도서관이 제주도의 역사와 풍토를 기록한 '제주도 삼다의 통곡사'를 발간했습니다.

재일제주인 1세대인 한동구씨가 쓴 이 책은 오랜 세월동안 제주도가 형성된 과정과
도민들이 어떻게 제주도 역사를 만들어왔는지 기술하고 있습니다.

또 전문적인 역사적 고증이나 어려운 표현 대신 누구나 쉽게 읽을 수 있도록 쓰인 역사문화서라는 평가를 받고 있습니다.
