1. 53% fewer international flights last year at Jeju International Airport
4.9% more domestic flights

The Jeju airport handled far fewer international flights last year, when the number of Chinese arrivals plummeted.

The transport ministry says it handled 53 percent fewer international flights compared to 2016. On the other hand, the number of domestic flights was up 4.9 percent, due to more Koreans visiting the island.

The ministry says passenger traffic will continue to grow in the coming years. It bases that projection on increasing travel demand and growing fleets of budget airline aircraft.

한편, 국토교통부는 여행수요와 저비용항공사의 항공기 보유 증대 등으로 항공여객이 앞으로 꾸준한 성장세를 보일 것으로 전망했습니다.
