2. Suspect caught in ‘indiscriminate assault’
57-year-old victim recovering in hospital

Police have apprehended a suspect in a case of what they’re calling “indiscriminate assault.”

The Jeju Dongbu Police Department says the alleged perpetrator is a 26-year-old man surnamed Baek. He allegedly assaulted a 57-year-old man surnamed Kim, who was collecting recyclable paper at a “Clean House” waste collection station in Yongdam 1-dong, Jeju City.

Baek admitted during police questioning that he had beat the victim while he was on his way home. He says he had been drinking.

Kim, the victim, is hospitalized with wounds on his face and leg.

폐지 수거 남성 무차별 폭행 용의자 검거

KCTV가 보도했던 폐지 수거 50대 남성의 무차별 폭행 사건과 관련해 용의자가 경찰에 붙잡혔습니다.

제주동부경찰서는 지난 22일 제주시 용담 1동 인근 클린하우스에서 폐지를 줍던 57살 김 모 씨를 무차별하게 폭행한 혐의로 26살 백 모 씨를 붙잡아 조사하고 있습니다.

경찰 조사에서 백씨는 술을 마시고 집으로 가던 도중에 시비가 붙어 때린 것 같다며 혐의 일부를 인정했습니다.

한편 폭행을 당한 김 씨는 얼굴과 다리 등을 크게 다쳐 병원에서 치료를 받고 있습니다.
