Gimpo-Jeju passengers can prove identity with fingerprints

Passengers on flights between Gimpo and Jeju can now opt for biometric boarding.

The Korea Airport Service and the transport ministry have launched a new program that allows travelers to identify themselves with finger- and palm prints, rather than with an official ID card.

Anyone wishing to use the service must first register their prints on the third floor of either airport.

Biometric boarding is currently only available for passengers on flights between Jeju and Gimpo.

29일 부터 생체인식 항공기 탑승 수속

생체인식 항공기 탑승수속이 오늘부터 시행되고 있습니다.

국토교통부와 한국공항공사는 오늘부터 제주와 김포공항에서 신분증 대신 손바닥 정맥과 지문으로 신원을 확인하는 '생체인식 탑승수속 서비스'를 시작하고 있습니다.

이 서비스를 이용하고자 할 경우 김포와 제주공항 여객청사 3층에서 신분증을 제시하고 손바닥 정맥과 지문을 등록하면 됩니다.

생체인식 항공기 탑승수속은 현재 김포와 제주공항을 오가는 승객에 한해 우선 적용되고 있습니다.
