4. Jeju City raises slaughter limits in lead-up to holidays
Officials working with livestock cooperative to prevent meat glut

Jeju City is allowing more livestock to be slaughtered in the run-up to the Lunar New Year holidays.

Officials doubled the daily limit for cattle from 25 to 50. The limit for hogs was raised from 32-hundred to 38-hundred. They also allowed the city’s slaughterhouse to remain open for business last Saturday and this Saturday.

The city is working with the Jeju Livestock Cooperative Federation to prevent a glut in meat supplies.

제주시가 설 명절을 대비해 축산물 도축 물량을 확대합니다.

소는 평상시 하루 25마리 도축하던 것을 50마리로 두 배 늘리고, 돼지는 하루 3천 200마리에서 3천 800마리까지 확대합니다.

이와함께 3일과 오는 10일 토요일에도 정상 도축할 계획입니다.

제주시는 도축 3일 전에 축협과 협의해 일시적으로 많은 물량이 출하되지 않도록
수급 조절하기로 했습니다.
