Officials plan to expand and rename Hallasan National Park

The creation of a Jeju National Park was among President Moon Jae-in’s election pledges, and his administration has begun work on the project.

Representatives from the Ministry of Environment and the provincial government held an initial briefing Thursday at the Gotjawal Ecology Experience Museum on a feasibility study for the plan.

Authorities plan to add oreum, gotjawal forests, and some marine areas to the existing Hallasan National Park and rename it Jeju National Park.

제주국립공원 지정 추진…8일, 착수보고회

대통령 공약이자 국정과제로 확정된 제주국립공원 지정 사업이 본격 추진됩니다.

환경부와 제주특별자치도는 8일 곶자왈공유화재단 생태체험관에서 제주국립공원 지정을 위한 타당성 조사 연구용역 착수보고회를 개최합니다.

이번 사업은 한라산국립공원 구역에 오름과 곶자왈, 해양 등을 추가해 제주국립공원으로 확대하는 것으로 문재인 대통령의 공약이자 국제과제로 확정됐습니다.
