5. Study in southeastern part of Hallasan Mountain
Researchers to investigate topography, geology, paleoclimate, etc.

Researchers will soon begin a wide-ranging scientific investigation into the southeastern part of Hallasan Mountain, including Sara Oreum.

The province has asked the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources to begin the study this month and conclude it by the end of November.

The institute will investigate the topography, geography, flora and fauna, and climate effects in the area. A particular focus will be the region’s paleoclimate. Researchers will collect sediment from Sanjeong Lake on Sara Oreum for that part of the study.

한라산 남동부지역에 대한 학술조사가 이뤄집니다.

제주특별자치도는 이달부터 오는 11월까지 한국지질자원연구원에 의뢰해
사라오름을 비롯한 한라산 남동부지역을 조사하게 됩니다.

지형과 지질, 동식물, 기후 영향을 분석하게 되며 특히 사라오름의 산정호수 퇴적층을 채취해 고기후를 연구하게 됩니다.
