3. Health survey of all Gangjeong residents
‘What are effects of 10 years of strife over navy base construction?’

Local officials are conducting a health survey of all residents in the village of Gangjeong, the site of a relatively new and controversial navy base.

The provincial government and the provincial mental health center are conducting the survey through the end of June. All 19-hundred residents at least 19 years of age will be subject to it.

Researchers want to gauge the mental and physical toll of ten years of local strife over the construction of the base.

Local officials say they will use results of the check-up to draw up psychological treatment programs for the villagers.

서귀포시 강정마을 주민 전체에 대한 건강조사가 이뤄집니다.

제주도는 광역정신건강복지센터와 함께 만 19살 이상 강정주민 1천900여 명을 대상으로 오는 6월까지 건강조사를 실시합니다.

이번 조사는 지난 10여년 동안 해군기지 갈등을 겪고 있는 강정주민들의 정신적.신체적 고통을 살펴보기 위해 이뤄지고 있습니다.

제주도는 조사 결과를 앞으로 추진할 심리지원사업의 데이터로 활용해 나갈 계획입니다.
