5. Financial support for hog farms seeking closure
Province earmarking \1.1b for initiative

The province has announced financial support to help small, struggling hog farms??as well as those being run by aging farmers??close down.

The province will actively focus on farms that have difficulty in processing livestock waste and preventing bad odors. Odor prevention is now more strictly enforced.

The provincial government has earmarked 700 million won for the project in Jeju City and 400 million won in Seogwipo.

It is also providing 530 million won in support to each of three hog farms that were selected in January as part of a similar closure support project.

영세·고령 양돈농가 예산지원 폐업 유도

제주도가 양돈장 악취문제 해소를 위해 영세, 고령 농가에 예산을 지원해 폐업을 유도합니다.

특히 분뇨 처리와 냄새 방지에 한계가 있을 것으로 판단되는 양돈장은 폐업을 적극 유도할 방침입니다.

제주도는 이를 위해 올해 제주시에 7억원 서귀포시에 4억원을 지원합니다.

한편 지난 1월 양돈장 폐업 지원 공모에 신청한 5개 양돈장 가운데 폐업이 결정된 3곳에는 각각 5억 3천여만원이 지원됩니다.
