‘Farming and fishing sectors haven’t recovered from brutal winter’

The Jeju employment rate is falling.

According to the Jeju branch of the Honam Regional Statistics Office, the March employment rate dropped 2.4 percentage points from a year earlier to 68.6 percent.

The number of people unemployed rose by 1,000 over the same period to a total of 8,000.

Researchers say the heavy snow over the winter led to far fewer jobs in the agriculture and fishing sectors, and that those industries have not yet fully recovered.

호남지방통계청 제주사무소에 따르면 지난달 제주지역 고용률은 68.6%로 1년전보다 2.4%p 떨어졌습니다.

실업자는 8천 명으로 전년 같은기간 대비 1천명 증가한 것으로 나타났습니다,

통계청은 지난 겨울 심한 폭설로 농림어업 분야 종사자가 크게 줄어든 이후 아직도 취업률을 회복하지 못하고 있는 것으로 분석했습니다.
