3. Tougher inspections of livestock products
Focus on sanitation, origin labeling

With the Chuseok holidays fast approaching, local authorities are stepping up efforts to ensure all livestock products are subject to the proper sanitary controls and that they all have correct origin labeling.

The crackdown began Monday and is running through September 21st. The province, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency have teamed up for the inspections, and they are focusing on producers and distributors of livestock products.

The inspectors are placing extra emphasis on large retailers and livestock cooperatives, because of their popularity with shoppers.

The provincial government is collecting samples of livestock products to check sanitation and safety, and it plans to increase shipments of the products to keep up with demand and stabilize prices.

추석 앞두고 부정 축산물 유통 특별단속

추석을 앞두고 축산물 위생관리와 원산지 표시 위반 등에 대한 특별단속이 실시됩니다.

이번 단속은 내일(10일)부터 오는 21일까지 제주도와 식약처, 농림축산검역본부 등 유관기관 합동으로 축산물 제조업체와 유통업체를 대상으로 실시됩니다.

특히 소비자가 많이 찾는 대형마트와 농.축협 마트에 대한 집중 점검이 이뤄집니다.

제주도는 축산물 위생과 안전성 확보를 위해 수거검사를 병행하는 한편 가격안정과 수급조절을 위해 출하물량을 확대해 나갈 계획입니다.
