3. Substandard mandarins on the market ahead of Chuseok
Police find 4 violations

Authorities say substandard mandarin oranges have made it to the market in the lead-up to the Chuseok holidays.

Jeju Municipal Police recently discovered four violations during a crackdown on the sale of substandard fruit.

One fruit packing house had purchased unripe mandarins and then artificially colored 16-hundred kilograms of them. A fruit seller in Seogwipo was found to have secretly shipped 1,000 kilograms of citrus off the island before it had been subject to quality tests.

Another fruit packing house got caught distributing 2,100 kilograms of unripe mandarins that were past their expiration date.

Police ordered all the artificially-colored fruit be disposed of and authorities plan to fine the fruit packing houses.

추석 앞두고 비상품감귤 유통행위 '고개'

추석연휴 기간에 비상품감귤 유통행위가 고개를 들고 있습니다.

제주특별자치도 자차경찰단은 최근 비상품감귤 유통행위에 대한 단속을 벌여 4건을 적발했습니다.

모 선과장의 경우 덜익은 감귤을 매입한 후 농산물숙성용가스로 1천 600킬로그램을 강제착색하는가 하면 서귀포시내 한 청과는 품질검사를 받지 않은
감귤 1천킬로그램을 도외로 반출하려다 적발됐습니다.

또 유통기한이 지난 풋귤 2천 100킬로그램을 유통하려던 선과장이 적발되기도 했습니다.

자치경찰단은 강제착색 감귤에 대해서는 전량 폐기처분하도록 관련부서에 통보하는 한편 비상품감귤로 적발된 선과장에 대해서는 과태료를 부과할 예정입니다.
