Wi Seong-gon argues facility under construction in Aewol is inadequate

One of Jeju’s representatives at the National Assembly says the island needs a second LNG receiving terminal.

Wi Seong-gon is a member of the trade ministry’s Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs, and Startups Committee. During recent parliamentary inspections of the ministry, Wi argued that the LNG terminal under construction at Aewol Port is insufficient. He said a problem at the island’s only terminal would affect all Jeju residents.

He asked Trade, Industry, and Energy Minister (성윤모) Sung Yunmo to study the establishment of a second terminal, saying experts agree one is needed.

국회 산업통상자원중소벤처기업위원회 위성곤 의원은 산업통상자원부에 대한 국정감사에서 애월항에 LNG 인수기지가 조성되고 있지만 1곳에 불과해 고장 등 문제가 발생할 경우 제주도민 전체가 도시가스 공급을 받지 못할 수도 있다고 지적했습니다.

이에 따라 새로운 인수기지 설립이 필요하다는게 전문가의 견해라며 이에 대한 검토를 성윤모 산업부장관에서 요청했습니다.
