An abandoned house sits in the middle of the community.
It looks ready to collapse at any minute.
The ceiling has caved in and wild ivy has crept up the walls, creating a dreary atmosphere.

The (안덕면) Andeok-myeon Office is going to rent abandoned houses to the underprivileged.
The office is working together with a local community consultative body, local welfare centers and the Community Chest of Korea to provide homes to areas that don’t have public rental houses.

Therefore we’ll restore abandoned houses and provide them to the elderly. <싱크 : 정정일 / 방주 사회복지지원센터장> "특히 안덕면은 임대주택이 없기 때문에 (취약계층) 주거문제가 심각하죠. 그래서 안덕면에 있는 빈집을 활용해서 집이 없어서 울고 있는 노인들이 기거할 수 있는 기회가 됐으면 좋겠다는 생각이 들어서…."
The organizations will renovate abandoned houses and rent them to the vulnerable for free for a certain period of time.

The project aims at improving local welfare and community rehabilitation.

We will screen applicants from the low income bracket to choose beneficiaries based on their will to earn a living. <싱크 : 오인선 / 안덕면 맞춤형복지담당> "안덕에 기존 2년 이상 거주를 하셔야 되고요. 저소득층 중에서저희가 별도 심의를 하겠지만 자립, 자활의지가 있는 가구를 우선적으로 선정하려고 합니다."
The (안덕면) Andeok-myeon Office is expanding the project next year.
