1. Union elections result in overhaul of leadership
21 unions in Jeju vote for new representation

The national union elections on Wednesday have resulted in a change of leadership in the majority of unions across Jeju Island.

Of the 32 unions on the island, 21 have elected new union leaders. The sitting leaders of 19 unions ran for re-election, with only 9 being successfully voted back in.

Union leaders serve 4 year terms, and they are given authority over budget planning and project execution, as well as the responsibility of hiring staff.

새 인물로 대거 물갈이 됐습니다.

이번 선거에서
제주도내 32개 조합 가운데 21개 조합에서 새로운 조합장이 탄생했습니다.

19개 조합 선거에는 현역 조합장이 출마했지만
9곳만 수성에 성공하며 신예들이 강세를 보였습니다.

조합장의 임기는 4년으로
각 조합의 대표권과 직원 임명 등을 행사하고
예산 재량권과 사업집행권을 주도하게 됩니다.
