3. Local ticks found with SFTS virus
Health officials warn public of danger

The Jeju Institute of Health and Environment found local ticks carrying the Severe Fever of Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus. Health officials are once again warning the public against the tick-borne illness.

Local researchers collected ticks from locations with a history of SFTS infection and found ticks carrying the SFTS virus.

SFTS is especially lethal because there is no vaccine or a cure to prevent or treat the illness. The only known measure against the disease is to avoid from being bitten by ticks during outdoor activities.

Health officials are urging the public to take extra care and to visit a medical facility when they experience fever, vomiting or diarrhea within the 2 weeks after spending time outdoors.

SFTS 바이러스가 검출됐다고 밝혔습니다.

예방백신과 치료제가 없어
야외활동에서
진드기에 물리지 않도록 주의하는게 최선의 예방법입니다.

제주도는 야외활동 후 2주 이내에
고열이나 구토, 설사 등의 증상이 있을 경우
즉시 의료기관을 방문해 진료를 받을 것을 당부하고 있습니다.
