2. Woljeong Beach to become a ‘designated beach' from 2020
Number of visitors increase by 5 times over 4 years

The increasing popularity of Woljeong beach in Jeju City has led it to become a designated beach.

The Jeju Municipal Office announced that it will make Woljeong Beach in Gujwa-eup a designated beach from next year. Officials will thus establish a comprehensive situation center at the beach next month.

The new two-story building will be equipped with a comprehensive situation room, changing room, shower room, and toilet facilities. The center will be built with a construction budget of 2 billion won,

The number of visitors to Woljeong Beach has increased from 15 thousand in 2015 to 73 thousand so far this year.

월정해변, 내년부터 '지정해수욕장' 운영

제주시 월정해변에 이용객이 늘어남에 따라
지정해수욕장으로 운영됩니다.

제주시는
현재 비지정해수욕장인 구좌읍 월정해변을
내년부터 지정해수욕장으로 운영하기로 하고
다음달 종합상황실을 착공한다고 밝혔습니다.

예산 20억 원을 들여 2층 규모로 신축되는 건물에는
종합상황실과 탈의.샤워장, 화장실 같은
이용객 편의시설을 갖추게 됩니다.

월정해변 이용객은 2015년 1만 5천명에서 해마다 늘어
올 들어 지금까지 7만 3천명으로 집계되고 있습니다.
