1. Seoul raises 2020 budget for 4.3 issues to \5.2B
Construction of 4.3 center and excavation of remains not reflected

Seoul raised next year’s budget for projects related to the April 3rd Incident to 5.24 billion won, which is an 8 percent increase from last year.

The budget of 5.24 billion won in total includes 3.57 billion won for the April 3rd Peace Foundation, 320 million won for the National Violence Trauma Center construction project and 750 million won for the historical site maintenance project.

However, the budget does not cover costs for designing the April 3rd Incident complex center and excavating the remains of victims of the massacre, which each costs 1.5 billion won and 100 million won, respectively.

The provincial government stated that it will make efforts to ensure that the projects related to the April 3rd Incident are reflected as much as possible at the parliamentary budget review.

내년도 4.3 관련 정부 예산안이
지난해보다 8% 증가한 52억 여 원으로 편성됐습니다.

제주특별자치도는
4.3 평화재단 출연금 35억 7천만원,
국가폭력 트라우마센터 위탁사업 3억 2천만 원,
유적지 정비 사업 7억 5천 만원 등
전체 52억 4천여 만 원이 정부 예산안에 반영됐다고 밝혔습니다.

하지만
원 지사 공약인
4.3 복합센터 설계비 15억 원과
유해발굴 예산 1억 원 등은 반영되지 않았습니다.

제주도는 국회 예산안 심의 과정에서
4.3 현안 사업들이
최대한 반영될 수 있도록 노력하겠다고 강조했습니다.
