4. Islanders petition for JNU’s management of Seogwipo Medical Center
Governor Won expressed difficulty of relocation of JNU doctors

A committee of Seogwipo City residents held a press conference at the Seogwipo City Hall this morning. It said that 86,000 citizens participated in a petition urging the Jeju National University hospital’s management of Seogwipo Medical Center. Committee members stated that they will deliver the signed petition to both the provincial council and the Jeju National University hospital.

The group said that the Jeju National University Hospital should take over the management of the Seogwipo Medical Center to ease public anxiety regarding the quality of medical service in Seogwipo City.

Meanwhile, Governor Won Hee-ryong had expressed difficulty of having doctors from JNU hospital to work at the Seogwipo Medical Center during his meeting with town leaders on September 2nd.

서귀포지역 자생단체로 구성된 추진위원회는
오늘 오전 서귀포시청 기자실에서 기자회견을 갖고
서귀포의료원에 대한
제주대병원의 위탁 운영을 촉구하는 서명에
시민 8만 6천여 명이 참여했다며
이같은 내용을 포함한 청원서를
제주도의회와 제주대병원에 전달한다고 밝혔습니다.

추진위원회는
서귀포시의 안전을 위해
우선 제주대병원에서
의료원을 위탁 관리하게 함으로써
시민들의 불안감을 잠재울 수 있다고 주장했습니다.

한편 앞서 원희룡 지사는
어제(2일) 서귀포지역 읍면동장과의 간담회에서
제주대병원 의사를
서귀포에서 근무하도록 하는
명분과 제도가 필요하다며
현실적으로 어렵다는 입장을 우회적으로 내비쳤습니다.
