1. Possible to 'refuse ride' to passengers without masks for buses and taxis
Policy to remain in place until infectious disease level lowered

The provincial government has come up with follow-up measures in response to a KCTV report that Jeju Island have guidelines in accordance with Seoul's policy that passengers without masks are restricted from using public transportation.

Jeju Island citizens are required to wear masks on buses and taxis from the 27th until the infectious disease level is lowered from the current critical stage.

This will restrict the use of buses and taxis for passengers without masks, and drivers are temporarily allowed to deny passengers based on noncompliance with the policy.

The provincial government is setting the guidance period of the new policy from the 27th to the 3rd of June in order to prevent confusion among residents and encourage voluntary participation.

27일부터
감염병 심각 단계가 경계로 내려가기 전까지
제주지역 버스와 택시에서도
마스크 착용이 의무화된다고 밝혔습니다.

이에따라 마스크를 착용하지 않은 승객은
버스나 택시 이용이 제한되며
이러한 승객에 대한 승차 거부도 한시적으로 허용됩니다.

제주도는 다만 도민 혼란을 방지하고
자발적 참여를 유도하기 위해
27일부터 다음달 3일까지를 계도기간으로 정하고
홍보에 나설 계획입니다.
