6. Rising number of farms that grow subtropical fruits in the province
Increase of more than 20 farms and 20 hectares of land since 2011

The amount of land allocated for the cultivation of subtropical fruits has been steadily increasing in Jeju Island.

According to the Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services, 113 different subtropical fruit farms were active in the province on 56 hectares of land that was used for cultivation as of 2018.

This is an increase of more than 20 farms and more than 20 hectares of land compared to 7 years ago in 2011. The Korea Advanced Institute of Agriculture and Technology plans to facilitate experiments on the discovery of new subtropical fruits and continue research on whether they can be grown in Jeju by the year 2023.

6. 도내 아열대과일 재배 농가·면적 증가

아열대과일을 재배하는 제주도내 농가와 면적이
꾸준히 늘고 있습니다.

제주도 농업기술원에 따르면,
2018년 기준 도내 아열대과수 재배 농가는 113곳,
재배 면적은 56헥타아르로 집계됐습니다.

이 같은 규모는
7년 전인 2011년보다 20여 농가,
면적으로는 20헥타아르 넘게 늘어난 것입니다.

농업기술원은
2023년까지 새로운 아열대과수 작목을 발굴하고
제주지역에 재배 가능한지
연구사업을 이어갈 계획입니다.
