KIRA opposes Seoul’s policy of increasing medical students

The Korean Intern Resident Association (KIRA) went on one-day strike today to oppose Seoul’s policy of expanding the number of medical students and were also joined by interns and residents of the island.

The Jeju branch of the KIRA conducted blood donation campaigns in the morning and organized a rally in front of the Jeju Medical Association building in the afternoon.

A total of 100 interns and residents participated in the strike, including 55 from Jeju National University Hospital, seven from Cheju Halla General Hospital, eight from Hanmaeum Hospital as well as 31 medical students.

도내 전공의 100명 오늘 파업…진료 차질 우려

정부의 의대 정원 확대 정책 등에 반발해
대한전공의협의회가 오늘(7일) 하루 파업에 들어가는 가운데
도내 전공의들도 파업에 동참합니다.

대한전공의협의회 제주지부는
오늘 오전 헌혈 릴레이를 시작으로
오후에는 제주도 의사회관에서
토론회와 야외집회 등 단체행동을 진행한다고 밝혔습니다.

도내 전공의들의 파업 참여 규모는
제주대병원 55명, 한라병원 7명, 한마음병원 8명,
의대생 31명 등 모두 120명으로 파악됐습니다.
