5. Perseids meteor shower expected to be visible from Jeju
Will peak on Aug 12 at 10 p.m.

A summer night meteor shower is expected to be visible from Jeju Island on August 12th at 10 p.m.

According to the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, this year’s Perseids meteor shower will be visible from 10 p.m. on August 12th until 1 a.m. the following morning.

The meteor shower is expected to peak at 10 p.m. with some 110 meteors shooting through the sky in an hour.

The institute recommends watching from a dark place that is away from city lights to get the best view.

Also worthwhile to note, the Jeju Starlight World Park and Planetarium will not be hosting this year’s Perseids meteor shower.

오는 12일 밤 10시를 전후해 관측될 전망입니다.

한국천문연구원은
오는 12일 오후 10시부터 다음날 새벽 1시까지
페르세우스 자리 유성우를 관측할 수 있다고 밝혔습니다.

특히 밤 10시쯤 가장 많은
시간당 110 여개의 별똥별이 관측될 것으로 예측했습니다.

천문연구원은
도시의 불빛이 닿지 않는
깜깜하고 맑은 밤하늘에서
유성우를 볼 수 있다고 설명하고 있습니다.

한편 별빛누리공원은 코로나19로 인해
이번 별똥별 우주쇼 관측행사를 진행하지 않을 방침입니다.
