Drinking fountains banned at schools due to larvae outbreak
POE takes precautionary measures, no larvae found in school tap water

The education office has temporarily suspended the use of water fountains in schools after larvae were found in tap water in Seogwipo City.

The Jeju Provincial Office of Education said that although there were no official reports of larvae in tap water at school cafeterias in Seogwipo City, they will still ban the use of drinking fountains until the cause of the outbreak is confirmed.

Instead, the government has decided to offer boiled water in the cafeteria or purchase bottled water for each student.

Meanwhile, 14 schools receive tap water from the Gangjeong water purification plant where the larvae were found.

학교내 음용수 사용을 일시 중단시켰습니다.

제주도교육청은
서귀포지역 학교 급식실 수돗물에서
유충이 발견됐다는 신고는 없지만
발생 원인이 확인될 때까지 음용수 사용을 중단시켰다고 밝혔습니다.

대신 급식실내 끓는 물을 사용하거나
학생 개인별로 먹는물을 구매해 마시도록 했습니다.

한편 유충이 발견된 강정정수장에서
수돗물을 공급받는 학교는 14군데로 조사됐습니다.
