55th Provincial Sports Festival postponed to October
COVID-19 preventive measures cited

The 55th Provincial Sports Festival, which was scheduled to be held next month, has been postponed to October to help stem the spread of COVID-19.

The Jeju Sports Council decided to delay the event by six months and hold it from October 29 to 31.

This decision follows grave concerns regarding the re-proliferation of COVID-19. Though vaccinations have begun, it was not seen as feasible to hold the competition due to the lack of collective immunity.

당초 다음달 16일부터 사흘동안 개최할 예정이던
제55회 도민체육대회를
오는 10월 29일부터 31일까지 개최하기로
결정했습니다.

이는 최근 코로나19 재확산 우려가 크고
백신 접종이 시작됐지만 집단면역 체계가 형성되지 않아
정상적인 대회 개최가 어렵다고 판단했기 때문입니다.
