4 scammers of used foreign cars caught
Crimes planned while serving in prison

The main culprit in the recent 10 billion won scam for used foreign cars was arrested, and it was revealed that the crime was planned while serving in prison.

According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency, the main culprit, a 48-year-old man, recruit head, and a representative of a trading company, were found to have conspired in a prison and executed the crime after being released from prison last year.

There are 12 accomplices arrested by the police in connection with the incident, of which 4 have been arrested, including the principal offender.

They are suspected of siphoning off approximately 19 billion won since March last year from 120 local residents. The scammers deceived residents by promising to give them 20 million won in profits per car if they lent them their names.

The police are further investigating into the incident, while continuing to search for the additional accomplices.

3. 100억대 중고외제차 사기단…"복역 중 범행 도모"

최근 100억원대 중고외제차 사기 사건의 주범이
검거된 가운데 이들이 교도소에서 복역 중에 범죄를 도모했던 것으로 드러났습니다.

제주경찰청에 따르면 사기와 도주 혐의로 검거된 주범인 48살 A씨와
모집책인 B씨, 무역회사 대표 C씨는
지난해 다른지역 교도소에서 수감하면서 알게돼 이같은 범죄를 꾸미고
출소 후 실행에 옮긴 것으로 드러났습니다.

현재 해당 사건과 관련해 경찰이 검거한 공범은 모두 12명이며
이 가운데 A씨 등 4명이 구속됐습니다.

이들은 지난해 3월부터 최근까지 제주도민 120여 명을 상대로
명의를 빌려주면 차 1대 당 2천 만원의 수익금을 주겠다고 속여
190억 원 가량을 빼돌린 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

경찰은 이들을 상대로 정확한 사건 경위를 파악하는 한편
외제차 딜러 등 공범들을 추가로 쫒고 있습니다.
