2021 spring records highest average temperature in history
This year’s average temperature from March to May was 15.5℃

The average temperature in the province during this spring made the highest record in 60 years.

According to an analysis of spring weather characteristics released by the Jeju Regional Meteorological Administration, the average temperature from March to May was 15.5 degrees Celsius, which was higher than the average 14 degrees Celsius.

This temperature is the highest spring temperature in Jeju since 1961 when weather observations began.

The Korea Meteorological Administration analyzed the trapped cold air from the Arctic that did not reach the Korean Peninsula, and the La Niña phenomenon which kept the sea surface temperature high in the tropical western Pacific as the reasons for this year’s unusual temperature.


4. 여름 같은 봄…기상관측 이래 기온 가장 높아

유난히 더웠던 올해 제주지역 봄철 평균기온이
60년 만에 가장 높았던 것으로 분석됐습니다.

제주지방기상청이 발표한 봄철 기상특성 분석에 따르면
지난 3월에서 5월까지의 평균기온은 15.5도로 평년 14도보다 높았습니다.

이 같은 기온은 기상관측이 시작된 1961년 이후 가장 높은 것입니다.

기상청은 올 봄이 더웠던 이유에 대해
북극의 찬 공기가 한반도까지 내려오지 못한 채 갇혀 있었고,

라니냐 현상으로 열대 서태평양의 해수면 온도가
높게 유지됐기 때문으로 분석했습니다.
