The province has confirmed a mass breeding of Grey Herons found on the island for the first time.

The Jeju Folk Natural History Museum published an academic survey report on Jeju herons and confirmed the breeding of more than 50 pairs that were discovered in (다려도) Darye-do of (북촌리 조천읍) Bukchon-ri, Jocheon-eup.

This is the first time to confirm the breeding of herons in Jeju.

The report also deals with the ecological environment and cultural resources of 24 major habitats of herons, and separate peaks in the city center have been identified
as major breeding grounds for the species including black herons.





제주에서 백로 '왜가리' 집단 번식 첫 확인


제주에서 백로의 한 종류인 왜가리 집단 번식이 처음으로 확인됐습니다.

제주도 민속자연사박물관은 제주 백로 관련 학술조사보고서를 발간하며 조천읍 북촌리 다려도에서 왜가리의 50쌍 이상 번식을 확인했다고 소개했습니다.

제주에서의 왜가리 집단 번식 확인은 이번이 처음입니다.

이 보고서에서는 또 백로류의 주요 서식지 24개소의 생태환경과 문화자원을 다루고 있으며 도심지의 별도봉은 흑로와 왜가리의 주요 번식지로 확인됐다고 밝혔습니다.
