Cruise ship calls to Jeju Island, which had been restricted due to COVID-19, are set to resume after a four-year hiatus.

According to Seogwipo City, on the 19th of this month, the Diamond Princess, a 15,000 ton cruise ship departing from Japan with 3,000 tourists on board, will arrive at the (강정) Gangjeong Jeju Civilian-Military Complex Port.

This marks the beginning of 28 scheduled cruise calls to enter Gangjeong Port this year, with an estimated 70,000 visitors expected to arrive in Jeju, boosting the local economy.

It has been four years since a cruise ship docked at the Jeju Civilian-Military Port since 2019.



강정항 크루즈 기항 4년만에 재개…올해 28항차


코로나19로 입항이 제한됐던 제주 크루즈선 기항이 4년만에 재개됩니다.

서귀포시에 따르면 오는 19일 일본에서 출발한 1만5천톤급 다이아몬드 프린세스호가 관광객 3천명을 태우고 강정 민군복합형관광미항에 입항합니다.

이를 시작으로 강정항에는 올해 28차례 크루즈선이 입항해 7만명 정도가 찾을 것으로 예상돼 지역경제에 활력을 줄 것으로 기대를 모으고 있습니다.

민군복합항에 크루즈선이 들어오는 건 지난 2019년 이후 4년만입니다.
