Electric Bicycle Subsidy Expanded

It's so convenient to move around, especially for short distances or leisure activities, because traffic is heavy.

As battery performance continues to improve, e-bikes are gaining popularity as a mode of transportation, not just for commuting but also for recreational activities such as island touring.


To promote the use of bicycles, a sustainable mode of transportation, the province has been offering subsidies for the purchase of electric bicycles since last year.

This year, the subsidy program has been expanded, garnering increased public interest.
For pedal-assisted electric bicycles costing over 1 million won, a subsidy of up to 500,000 won is available,
and for bicycles costing less than 1 million won, 50% of the purchase price is supported.

Such subsidies have significantly boosted interest in electric bicycles.

In contrast to last year's underutilized budget due to low application numbers, this year had a considerable increase in applicants from the start of registration.

Last year, even after a year of accepting applications, we barely received over 30. But now, it's only been 3 days and we've already received over 20 applications.

The province’s electric bicycle subsidy is aimed at residents aged 18 and over, and will be available to about 300 applicants.


For those interested in making a purchase, applications are open until the 17th of this month. A random draw will then be held.

With the highest electric vehicle distribution rate in the country, the province expects a corresponding surge in this eco-friendly mode of transportation, thanks to these expanded subsidies promoting sustainable mobility solutions.
